ABS -Anti lock breaking system is an advanced braking system used in modern vehicles which is hydraulically operated.
Without ABS: It's true that the vehicle can slow down quicker with ordinary braking system compared to the ABS. Automobile Engineering tutorials But it compromises on the vehicle stability while doing so. The vehicle can skid in this system and cause accidents. Hydraulic tutorialsEven steering lock can happen, which will restrict the driver from steering off the vehicle to avoid a collision.

With ABS: Vehicle will have excellent stability while breaking. The driver will have the control over the steering to steer off from obstacles. The steering lock will not happen; it's like an intermittent breaking system which will avoid the vehicle to skid on sharp turns. It is a mechatronics system linked with hydraulics having employed relief valves and hydraulic motors.
