The scavenging is a process involved in the working of a two stroke engine.
The process of pushing the exhaust gas in two stroke engine with the fresh charge coming from the transfer port is called scavenging. This video clearly explained the process.
As shown in the fig: 1 when the piston is at BDC (bottom dead centre) the pre-compressed fresh charge moves up through the transfer port and reached the cylinder which will be filled with exhaust gas from the previous power stroke. So the fresh charge pushes out the exhaust gas through the outlet, this process is called scavenging.
