HCCI Engine Explained.

This video explains the working of HCCI Engine (homogenous charge ignition engines).
This engine is a combination of compression ignition engine (diesel engine) and Gasoline engine (spark ignition engine) hence also called as a Hybrid engine.

Engineering tutorials The strokes involved are:
Suction: Inlet valve opens and air fuel mixture is sucked in.

Automobile Engineering tutorials Compression: Air fuel mixture is compressed, all valves in closed condition.
Combustion: The air fuel mixture is a lean mixture (air to fuel ratio is high), so during compression temperature rises and about 700 degree celsius combustion occurs at all valves in closed condition.
Exhaust: exhaust valves opens and exhaust happens.
Advantages:
Less pollution as Nox produced is less due to flameless ignition.
15% more efficiency compared to that of diesel and gasoline engines.
