Automobile and Hydraulics in JCB BHL machine explained.

In this topic we will discuss about the technology used on construction equipments. Basically it can be classified as 
  1. Automobile technology. 
  2. Hydraulic technology.
Automobile technology used in construction equipment (back hoe loader):

The technology can be simply explained with the power train as per the figure as shown. Power train consists of 
Power Train.
Hydraulic Components.

  1. Engine (prime mover) 
  2. Gear box (transmission) 
  3. Rear axle.


Engine (prime mover): Different companied used various type of engines in there equipments (eg: Kirloakar, Cummins,Perkins, Jcb, Mahindra etc). The engine provides the power to the transmission.

Gear box (transmission): It takes and controls the power coming from the engine and supplies it to the rear axle.

Rear axle: It takes the power from the gear box and transmits it to the rear tyres.
   
Hydraulic technology used in construction equipment (back hoe loader):
It consists of:
  1. Hydraulic pump. 
  2. Loader valve block. 
  3. Excavator valve block. 
  4. Hydraulic ram.
Hydraulic pump: The function of the pump is to create a flow. These type of machines use gear pump (used in back hoe loader) , piston pump(used in tracked excavators) etc.

Loader valve block: Oil flow coming from the pump is controlled by the loader valve block to loader side of the back hoe loader (Bhl). This valve block controls the hydraulic rams in the loader side.

Excavator valve block: Oil flow coming from the pump is controlled by this valve block to excavator side of the back hoe loader (Bhl). This valve block controls the hydraulic rams in the excavator side.

Hydraulic ram: this is the component which is connected to the loader bucket, boom, dipper, tipping lever, tipping link, loader ram, lift ram.
